My favorite trail for peace and quiet.
I come for the sound of nature on the trail and the workout getting up the first leg of the path.
This is a beautiful state park with lots to offer. Such a peaceful place with a little bit of everything to offer. Hiking, biking, fishing, camping, picnics, playground-it’s all there!
This time i backpacked with a group which was hosted and led by a park education specialist.
Great place to hike. Hiked the lower 8 loop. Be prepared for some mud this time of year. The bridge is temporarily closed so you have to access the park from PA-227 (Cherry Run Rd) to Petroleum Center Rd. Keep in mind you can't finish the loop and cross the bridge to get back the parking lot.
Great place for outdoor activities like hiking, biking, and fishing. The train is the best way to see the park and have narration as to how it used to be.
Great park....unfortunately the car bridge is under construction at the moment...However, I have been here before the mess..great fishing spots on Oil Creek..also very interesting to learn local history regarding the oil trade! Charming area!
I camped here with my sons Boyscout Troop one weekend in February 2023. We slept in the Adirondacks. The fireplaces were amazing! We very much appreciated the wood they had stocked up not too far away.
We will definitely camp and hike here again!
Great experience backpacking. There are a variety of accommodations for camping. The Park Rangers are extremely nice. The one tiny weenie downside are the deer ticks. I am not sure how they penetrated our defenses as several in our group got them including myself. You must check yourself periodically. Seem to like the legs.
Beautiful scenery especially in winter. Moderate to strenuous hiking with a well maintained trail. Two sets of Adirondack shelters equipped with fireplace and plenty of wood. Bathrooms available at both sites as well as water in the warmer months. Fairly easy access to multiple trailheads.
